PhD Student publishes in a high-impact, peer-reviewed, open-access journal: Frontiers in Marine Science

We are proud to announce, that Sulastri Arsad, a fourth-year PhD Student from Indonesia at the Doctoral School (Institute of Marine and Environmental Sciences),

under the supervision of dr hab. Małgorzata Bąk, prof. US and Dr. Romain Gastineau, has published an article entitled:

“Not Caloneis egena: morphological description and complete plastid and mitochondrial genomes of Caloneis paraegena sp. nov. from the Gulf of Tomini, Indonesia”, in Frontiers in Marine Science (IF 3, CiteScore 5.8).

The study describes Caloneis paraegena Arsad, Bąk, Gastineau & Witkowski from Sulawesi, Indonesia, in collaboration with international researchers.

Previously identified as the cosmopolitan C. egena, these specimens differ from the original description and are recognized as a new species.

It also presents the first complete plastid and mitochondrial genomes for the genus Caloneis, providing new evolutionary insights.
