From 16–18 June 2026, Szczecin hosted the GDS Forum & Impact Day – an international event dedicated to the sustainable development of tourism and the future of urban and regional destinations.
The Forum featured a range of thematic sessions and workshops with the participation of representatives of public administration, the tourism sector, industry organizations, and the academic community.
The meetings provided a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience on current challenges faced by contemporary tourism destinations.
One of the programme highlights was the panel entitled “Knowledge Events as Urban Development Tools”, led by UNESCO Chair members Prof. Maciej Kowalewski and dr Olga Łozińska.
The discussion focused on the role of knowledge-based events in shaping urban development, strengthening cities’ innovative potential, and building cross-sectoral cooperation networks.
The GDS Forum & Impact Day 2026 represents an important international platform for dialogue, fostering knowledge exchange and the dissemination of good practices in sustainable tourism and urban development.
The participation of representatives of the UNESCO Chair USZ in the Forum programme highlights the importance of collaboration between academia and practice, as well as the active presence of the academic community in the global debate on the development of cities and tourism destinations.
