The sessions will provide practical knowledge about doctoral education regulations in Poland and help you confidently navigate important stages of your PhD.

Mid-term Evaluation – Preparation, Procedures and Assessment Criteria

The mid-term evaluation is one of the most important stages of doctoral education. During this session, you will learn about its legal framework, assessment criteria, required documentation, the presentation of your Individual Research Plan, and your rights and responsibilities throughout the evaluation process.

Individual Research Plan: Structuring Your Research Journey

The Individual Research Plan (IRP) is a key document shaping your doctoral education. This session will explain how to prepare an effective IRP, what it should contain, applicable deadlines, its role in the mid-term evaluation, and the consequences of failing to meet statutory requirements.

A Roadmap to Your Doctoral Dissertation & Defense
Speaker: Ewelina Tomczyk

This session will guide you through the legal and procedural requirements related to preparing and defending a doctoral dissertation, including dissertation formats, the roles of supervisors and reviewers, plagiarism screening, eligibility for the doctoral defence, and the final steps towards obtaining your doctoral degree.

👩‍⚖️ Speakers:

Ewelina Tomczyk – lawyer, PhD candidate and Research Assistant at the University of Wrocław. She specialises in higher education law and has experience delivering training on doctoral students’ rights and responsibilities.

Jakub Zielonka, MSc Eng. – PhD candidate at Cracow University of Technology and member of the expert team of the Polish National Association of Doctoral Candidates responsible for the evaluation of doctoral schools. He has extensive experience supporting doctoral students and contributing to doctoral education initiatives.

💻 All sessions will be held online, in English, and participation is completely free of charge.

The training series is organised within the Academia Law Hub project, co-financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the programme “Organising and Promoting Activities for the Academic Community.”
