The digital PhD Student ID

Dear PhD Students,

We would like to inform you that as of 30 June 2026, the mObywatel mobile application now enables PhD students to use the digital PhD Student ID (mLegitymacja doktoranta).

This is a digital equivalent of the traditional student ID card, allowing PhD students to confirm their status using a mobile phone.

Advantages of the digital PhD Student ID:

  • there is no need to carry a physical ID card – the mObywatel app on your phone is sufficient,
  • presenting the document on your smartphone screen confirms your PhD student status and allows you to benefit from applicable discounts and entitlements,
  • within the app, you can easily view document details, update data, re-download a revoked ID, verify its authenticity using a QR code, or remove the document,
  • the document can be added to the app and used also in offline mode, without internet access.

How to add the PhD Student ID in the mObywatel app:

  1. Install the mObywatel app, available for download at:
  2. Go to the “Documents” section, select “Add document”, and choose “PhD Student ID” from the available list.
    If the option is not visible, please update the mObywatel app to the latest version.
