University of Szczecin joined the prestigious UNESCO Chairs Network. The official opening of the UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability at the Doctoral School of the University of Szczecintook place on 18 November 2022. It will deal with social issues such us equal opportunities, social integration, intercultural dialogue, human rights and open, accessible education in a democratic society.

Currently, there are 850 UNITWIN chairs and research networks in over 110 countries. UNESCO Chairs play a strategic role in strengthening the links between knowledge, research, education and public policies .An online conference was also held on that day, attended by Mrs. Inga Nichanian – Coordinator of UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme, Future of Learning and Innovation, Education Sector, UNESCO.
